GREAT Scholarships 2023-2024 British Council | UK

The Great Scholarships offer students from 14 countries the chance to receive £10,000 towards their tuition fees for a wide range of one-year taught postgraduate courses.

In the 2023-24 academic year, 200 scholarships are offered by 49 universities in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Each scholarship is jointly funded by the UK Government’s Great Britain Campaign and the British Council with participating UK higher education institutions.

As a part of the program, all Great Scholars will be invited to a reception in the first semester and a networking event in the second semester.

Eligibility Criteria for Great Scholarships

  • To qualify for the Great Scholarships, a candidate must meet all of the following requirements:
  • Required Language(s): English
  • Eligible Countries: Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand
  • Hold an undergraduate degree, be motivated, and have an interest in the proposed subject area
  • Meet the English language requirement of a UK HEI.
  • Build an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfillment.
  • Get ready to attend a networking event for all the great UK-based scholars, to discuss and gain feedback on your experiences of studying in the UK.
  • Be prepared to liaise with the British Council and their HEIs and act as ambassadors for great scholarships.
  • As an alumnus of Great Scholarships, be willing to occasionally speak to potential candidates about your experience of studying in the UK.

    Scholarship funding will be released to successful scholars by individual universities after registration.
